I enjoy exploring the traditional Japanese resist dye technique of Shibori to create pattern, color, and texture on fabric. By drawing up a simple running stitch across a width of fabric, the gathers block the dye creating interesting lines and variations in color. Adding a contemporary feel to these traditional Japanese techniques continues to fascinate and inspire my work.
